When we’re not photographing our incredible Goodie and Smith Couples, we love working with other local business owners. We’ve been lucky enough to meet vendors who serve Mobile, Daphne, Fairhope and beyond. When we work with these business owners, we’re often capturing new branding portraits for their business or catching up at a wedding! Recently, we visited Susan George, at LUSH – a full service boutique florist in Mobile, Alabama. We’re so excited to be sharing these branding photos and a glimpse inside what makes LUSH so special!
Tell us about your business, what services do you offer?
We are a full service boutique florist. Our arrangements are unique and one of a kind. We provide floral arrangements for weddings, events, funerals and everyday events. We also do organic balloon garlands and balloon columns. These are becoming more and more popular. We are also a retail gift shop and garden store. We are the local retailer for Elegant Earth, an upscale line of outdoor furniture, fountains, and planters that are made in Birmingham. We are also known for our both traditional and unique varieties of beautiful live orchids and orchid arrangements. We are adding more live plants and garden accessories to the shop as Spring approaches.
Can you tell us about the experience that your brides have with you when they book you for their wedding florist?

What are some wedding trends you’re seeing for 2021?
What is one tip you always give your clients?
One tip we always give our brides is to ask for a handful of florals to style with their detail photos. We encourage our clients to research wedding flowers on the internet and in magazines and to bring us lots of pictures of styles that they like. It’s often hard to communicate exactly what the bride is enivisioning without pictures. We also encourage our brides to dedicate more of thier budget to areas where thier guests will spend more time. Guests will spend much more time looking at a table arrangement at the reception than they will looking at an altar arrangement during the ceremony.
When should you hire a florist?
You should hire a florist early in your planning process after you have secured your venue and have a firm date. We only do one wedding per weekend, so you want to make sure that you call us early to book your date. We don’t have to discuss details or specific plans until 3-4 months prior to the wedding, but brides should choose a florist and book them much earlier than that.
What question(s) do you get asked the most?
The question that I get asked most is “Can I afford your services?” People sometimes think that because we are a small shop that we might be more expenisive then the big guys. We aren’t! We work with brides of all budgets. We will work with brides to do out best to achieve the look that they want within their budget.
